Seymour sits up on the high ground between Springfield and Mansfield, right along Highway 60 — one of the highest spots in the Ozarks, which is exactly why the apple orchards took hold here and why the Apple Festival still fills the square every fall. Drive any of the county roads out of town and you'll share the pavement with buggies from the local Amish community, pass a few dairy barns and poultry houses, and see plenty of farmhouses that have been added onto three or four times since the original wiring went in.

That mix is the whole story of electrical work around here. In one week we might bring a 1940s farmhouse near Diggins or Niangua up to a modern 200-amp service, wire a new shop building off a gravel road outside Fordland, and install recessed lighting in a remodel in one of the newer subdivisions in Rogersville or Ozark. Well pumps, hay barns, grain equipment and detached shops are as much a part of the job out here as kitchens and panels.

Head north and you're in Marshfield — the Webster County seat, home of the Cherry Blossom Festival and Edwin Hubble's hometown telescope replica on the courthouse lawn. Head east on 60 and you hit Mansfield, where Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote the Little House books at Rocky Ridge Farm and Baker Creek's Pioneer Village draws crowds from all over the country. West on 60 puts you in Springfield, Nixa and Ozark in about half an hour — the Finley River, Battlefield Mall and Bass Pro end of our territory, where most of our commercial and new-construction work happens.

Knowing the area matters more than people think. Ozarks ice storms and summer thunderstorms are hard on service drops and sensitive electronics, which is why we push whole-home surge protection and standby generators so often. Long rural driveways mean long feeder runs and outbuilding subpanels. And a lot of the older homes between Seymour and Mansfield still have cloth wiring or a fuse box hiding behind a closet door. We've seen all of it — usually more than once.
